On a Saturday evening in February, John Tesoriero was sitting in a Westwood restaurant, but was more intrigued by the falling snow outside, rather than his meal.  Staring out the window and the blanket of white falling on his beloved childhood town, he began to envision his days as a young child walking the streets of Westwood with his mom and remembering all the fond memories they shared. “As my mind was filled with all the wonderful childhood memories of those streets, the urge came over me to battle the storm and take them all in, first hand, while the blizzard was still going on”   John quickly returned home, geared up with his winter snow apparel and snow boots and grabbed his loyal Leica Q camera and headed out to a nice evening walk through the snow filled streets of Westwood, the same path and walk that he took as a child with his mother, Grace, leading the way.  Not even his wildest imagination could have prepared him for the winter wonderland he was about to enter.  The remainder of the evening was spent capturing a transformed town and its landmarks.

The stillness of the night is captured in the image of the bandstand, sitting on a trackless bed of white, as if in a snow globe.

The Pascack Theatre glows like a beacon in the storm while the snowflakes and plowed-in cars add a cinematic quality to the scene. Conrad’s Confectionery and its Valentines Day Hearts in the window are frozen in time surrounded by sugar snow.

You can meet the artist and see the nine images and many more in the series on Sunday, December 16th from 2-4 PM. Large prints are available in custom sizes as well as a mini set for a wall grouping or a perfect gift.
